Why are car companies allowed to systematically disturb the peace?
Why is it that every time someone sets foot in or out of a vehicle a full-volume car or truck horn has to be blasted in everyone’s ear? This is clearly disturbing the peace.
I always thought disturbing the peace was illegal. I was also once told by a police officer that there is also a law referring to "Illegal use of the horn." Vehicle horns were meant to be used for emergencies only, not every time you make a trip to the convenience store. I’m not an attorney, but based on this, it seems that use of these car alarms are breaking not one, but two laws simultaneously. So how do the car companies get a way with mass producing car alarms that by there very nature disturb the peace? It makes you wonder if the government really cares about disturbing the peace when they knowingly allow these devices to be mass produced.
